Viking Knit Wire Workshop

April 13, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Please note that the sample piece shown in the photo was made outside our shop, so we do not have the identical materials shown, but have many choices of similar materials for you to choose from.

Viking Knit Wire Workshop

Viking Knitting dates very far back, as you can probably guess from the name! It’s a method of weaving thin wire around a dowel in a way that creates a stunning result when completed and pulled through a drawplate.

In this class the designer has chosen a piece where you only make a partial section in Viking knit with the intention that you will be able to learn how to complete your piece and use the drawplate while in the classroom. Once you learn the technique, the designer will have pieces to show you that are made fully of viking knit and also pieces where beads are added to knit as you go, all to give you inspiration of where you can grow!.

Date & Time: Saturday, April 13, 1:00-4:00

Difficulty Level: Beginner  |  Technique: Viking Knit |  Instructor: Sharon Blaylock

Cost: $20 plus materials; fee includes a dowel for you to work on and take home (Because we are bringing in an outside instructor, we cannot use Laura’s Bead Addicts Membership Club Cards for this class and it also does not qualify for our “first time is free” promotion.)

Pattern Information: A tutorial will be distributed on the day of class.

New to Wireworking?

This class is designed for both beginner and intermediate students; no previous experience is necessary. The class will be small in size so you’ll get plenty of teacher time. You’ll begin to familiarize yourself with working with wire and tools. The instructor will have already made the piece so that you can see what is looks like completed.

We ask that you always use supplies from Laura’s Beads when in our beading room, however you’re encouraged to bring along wireworking tools if you already have them. Thank you!
